It’s said that September and October are the most popular month for weddings each year, as documented by the Knot, WeddingWire and BRIDES Magazine.
With September officially here and October coming fast, on this #FridayFunday, we thought we would introduce a few of our favorite wedding essentials, made with some of our favorite flowers, paired with plenty of fresh greenery, of course.
Incorporating some of the latest wedding trends, such as Eucalyptus and Ruscus, neutral and soft colors, and fixtures like arches and banquet style tables, if you’re currently planning your own wedding or those of your clients, we hope that these stunning designs are a great source of inspiration for your floral designs!
At Albin Hagstrom & Son, we love weddings, and here’s a few of our favorite designs from throughout the month of August, plus some quick tips for your upcoming weddings. ??
First: Backdrops
Whether indoors or outdoors, arches are becoming extremely popular for wedding ceremonies, and designed with a couple’s style and ideas in mind, no two are alike.
We love this one, created for a bright outdoor ceremony in August, by Laura Fernandes of Fern Floral Design in New York. Made with Roses large and small, accented by Salal, Eucalyptus, Smilax and a variety of other greens and filler flowers, it’s classical, and beautiful.
Tip: If you’re a bride, don’t be afraid to let your florist create their own magic! Many florists would love to take your colors, theme/scheme and ambience of your venue and create magic just for you.
No wedding is complete without bountiful bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids to carry, and each is made special, to make a special day even more special.
While light colors are becoming popular, light and dark colors that contrast, such as the white of the Calla Lilies and red of the Roses and Carnations, accented by fresh Eucalyptus and Leatherleaf in this bouquet by Flowers by Ray and Sharon in Michigan, look just as amazing.
Tip: Consider using flowers that are in season during your wedding for a true seasonal feel and less strain on your budget. Peonies during the summer, Sunflowers in the fall, etc.
The ceremony is over, and afterwards, it’s time to celebrate! While every venue is unique, there’s greenery out there that can make any venue sparkle and shine.
Sometimes, simple touches will do, such as these fresh Israeli Ruscus Garlands, paired with a centerpiece made of flowers matching the bride’s color palette and Eucalyptus and Leatherleaf greenery, arranged by Catherine Chmekla of 402 Floral in Nebraska.

Tip: Garlands are great in a variety of ways. Not only can they accent head tables, they can also be hung on backdrops, laid down the center of tables, and decorate ceremony spaces.
Fourth: Love
The photos show it all, this couple had the perfect day to celebrate their everlasting love, and we’re in love with this gorgeous arch, designed by Val Foote of Sungrove Blossoms in New York.
Trendy and fun, these fresh Roses joined with fresh Eucalyptus and Ruscus came together to make something celebrating love, that everyone who saw it was sure to love.
Tip: Reuse your florals! Arches can be moved from ceremony to reception space during cocktail hour, bouquets can be displayed by the wedding party, and greenery from ceremony backdrops can be used to decorate the reception space.
